Coex Films
Packaging today demands more from its materials than ever before. Graphics pop from the retail shelves to capture the consumer’s eye. Convenience, freshness, tamper evidence and many other qualities must be satisfied—and at the same time, converters have to work better, faster and more cost-effectively.
Coextruded films offer you the most cost-effective way to combine the performance characteristics of multiple film materials to achieve a multitude of needs. What once could only be attained by laminating separate layers can now be achieved in the coextrusion process. In fact, Danafilms can create films with three, five or seven layer structures in a single film.
Cutting Cost/Boosting Performance
Coextrusion allows the creation of ultra-thin layers within a film. This material reduction means that there is no need to pay for more resin than is actually needed for each of the layers. If the same material were to be added as a monofilm lamination, it would have to be much thicker to survive the converting process.
Multiple Properties
Coextrusion allows Danafilms to provide you with constructions that perform multiple feats at once. An outer layer might be designed for special slip characteristics, abrasion resistance, or printability. Other layers might provide barrier properties, formability, temperature resistance, and others. The inside layer might be designed as a strong or weak sealant layer that also provides safe direct contact with food. Other layers might add strength, stiffness, flexibility or adhesion.
